Joint Providership

Quality Continuing Education Makes A Difference!

In support of improving patient care, the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

ABQAURP is Jointly Accredited with Commendation to provide continuing education for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals. As part of this accreditation, we are able to jointly provide accredited continuing education activities for non-accredited, eligible organizations. ABQAURP welcomes applications for the joint providership of single profession and interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) activities. We are committed to providing continuing education to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of health care delivered to patients, improving the overall clinical outcome.

ABQAURP is here to work with your organization to ensure the accreditation process runs as smoothly as possible. Benefits of working with ABQAURP include one-on-one assistance as we work with you to develop your activity. Your learners simply complete an online survey to print continuing education certificates. Certificates remain on their account for easy access for reprints.

Educational activities incorporate the needs underlying practice gaps of the health care team and encourage collaborative practice between the team and improvement of health outcomes. All IPCE and single profession activities must meet The Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education.

Joint Providership Program

Joint Providership (JP) is the development of an educational activity by one accredited and one non-accredited organization. ABQAURP Joint Providership occurs when the following criteria are met:

  • The non-accredited organization’s mission aligns with ABQAURP's mission to improve the overall quality of health care provided to the public and its CE mission to change the competence, performance, or patient outcomes provided by and for members of the health care team.
  • The non-accredited provider is not an ineligible company (defined as those companies whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients) nor does it have a parent/sister company that is owned or controlled by an ineligible company.
  • The accredited provider and/or its non-accredited joint provider have control of identification of educational needs, determination of educational objectives, selection and presentation of content, selection of all persons and organizations that will be in a position to control the content of the activity, selection of educational methods, and evaluation of the activity.
  • The accredited provider takes responsibility for an IPCE activity when it is presented in cooperation with a non-accredited organization through a rigorous review process and use of the appropriate accreditation statement(s).

CE Mission Statement

ABQAURP’s accredited education program is designed to change competence, performance, or patient outcomes provided by and for members of the health care team. By participating in ABQAURP's CME/CE program, members of the health care team may:
  • Enhance their knowledge, skills, and/or strategies in the subject areas offered (competence);
  • In some instances, change the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of health care delivered to the patients (performance);
  • In some instances, change the overall clinical outcome for patients (patient outcomes).
Multiple methods, such as surveys, post-tests, and interviews will be used to identify and monitor program effectiveness in meeting identified educational needs and changes in practice. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches will be incorporated to assess changes in knowledge, skills, performance-in-practice, and/or health status improvement. The results of the evaluation of the overall program will be used to guide improvements.
